But just how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it could be the mattress of your dreams.
Read on below for my full review of this PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of organic Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which often has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, each of the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for each mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t be able to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its site detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Additionally, if you are still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the center and the Firm section as the foundation .
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the following three sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This substance is compact and has a fast response to pressure, making a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you are unlikely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those who are inclined to sleep hot during the night.
As far as the feel in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage to the bed, which is buffered slightly by the Moderate latex section as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ structure is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials are accredited by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Plus, the bed can also be GREENGUARD Gold Certified, making sure that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds Contact Info
After having a look at the construction of this Botanical Bliss, let’s chat about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and found that I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I encountered the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and from the structure.
Since people of different sizes, shapes and weights are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We all took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a private firmness score and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always likely to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from one outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it appears as though this bed is pretty soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we are only taking a look at the bed in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers can make it firmer or softer.
For more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using gentle, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed selection.
So if we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a medium transition section and a soft base, we’d end up with a bed that had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on how to orient the layers in your individual Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important component of texture is stress, or more especially where pressure points might form while lying on top of a new bed.
Instead of merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d give you a visual representation rather. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft coating of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for all this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as though I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had especially good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers tend to like softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt lots of great pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the picture above, I didn’t notice any tension at my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for people who doze mostly on their own sides.
Stomach: And lastly, once I rolled onto my stomach, I started to feel a bit of distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds as they help keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds Contact Info
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its own motion move, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to another.
Essentially, this test will let you know just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s moves in the evening.
To illustrate this, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each fall is meant to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t fans of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most frequent complaints associated with the substance and can be seen in additional all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
If purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the bounce of the latex certainly helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to the kind of cushiony pressure relief you may get in the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is how bouncy it is, which might be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The all-natural latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a big selling point is the organic building . From the natural wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we mentioned previously, this mattress didn’t have amazing movement transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you’re not going to encounter a good deal of shape here, among the most frequent complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Plushbeds Contact Info
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. A natural cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool underneath the cover that does an excellent job of enhancing breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that provides an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions along with terrific cooling and a rounded hug / body shape.
