DreamCloud Mattress Review Dream Cloud Mattress Price
I am super excited about the current review because I’ll be having a look at one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a sound foundation for the whole.
After taking a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view also. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it is definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks. However, I still felt supported and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these places with relative ease. Dream Cloud Mattress Price
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to learn what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a broad assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dream Cloud Mattress Price
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
