DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Kohls
I am super excited about today’s review because I’ll be having a look at a few of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper could benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different substances at play here, I am stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole.
After having a look at the building of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this time I’d like to remember that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the business standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of just describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed whatsoever. The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these places with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Kohls
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Kohls
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you think about the quantity of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
