DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Cover Waterproof
I am super excited about the current review because I’ll be having a look at a few of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Cover Waterproof
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire.
After having a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear the this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy.
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress whatsoever. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Cover Waterproof
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
If purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Cover Waterproof
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
