DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Walmart
I am super excited about the current review since I’ll be taking a look at one of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to stress, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to remember that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the business standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Rather than just describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the effects on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt encouraged and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Walmart
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to learn what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Topper Walmart
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and wish to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you consider the quantity of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
