DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Military Discount
I’m super excited about today’s review since I’ll be taking a look at one of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole.
After having a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from springs.
At this time I’d like to remember that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear the this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Military Discount
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still look at the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
If buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Military Discount
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
