DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Flame Retardant

I’m super excited about today’s review since I’ll be having a look at a few of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.
Read on below for my full review of the DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Flame Retardant

CONSTRUCTION

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.

Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.

Foam Layers:  Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.

These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.

Foundation Layer:  A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire.

FIRMNESS

After having a look at the building of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from springs.

At this time I’d like to remember that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion also.

DreamCloud-Firmness-Test

As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the business standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent the this mattress is really firm.

Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Flame Retardant

PRESSURE MAP

Instead of just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.

Back:  Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress whatsoever. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.

Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks. However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this place.

Stomach:  Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these places with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Flame Retardant

THE MATTRESS WITH A 365 NIGHT TRIAL & FOREVER WARRANTY

If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.

To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

Dreamcloud-Motion-Transfer-test

The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.

SINKAGE TEST

When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.

  • 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
  • 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

As you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dreamcloud Mattress Flame Retardant

EDGE SUPPORT

If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to consider the quantity of edge support it will provide.

I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.

Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.

Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.

A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
