But just how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to learn, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, how it sleeps and whether it could be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is constructed with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for every mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Plus, if you’re still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss in the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Moderate layer in the center and the Firm segment as the foundation .
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this plush latex mattress and see what is going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic wool and cotton, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the following three sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This substance is dense and has a quick response to stress , making a bed that is incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex does not feature much if any contouring, so you are not likely to feel stuck at the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those of you who tend to sleep hot at night.
As far as the texture in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some first deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered slightly by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all of its materials have been accredited by the International Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the bed is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, making sure that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds For Sale
After having a look at the construction of the Botanical Bliss, let’s chat about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and found that I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in further, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and from the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, shapes and weights will feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We all took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness score and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always going to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were largely in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it appears as though this bed is really soft.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Bear in mind that we’re only looking at the mattress in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers could make it either firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using gentle, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed selection.
So if we swapped across the layers in our bed to have a firm layer up top, a medium transition segment and a soft base, we’d end up with a bed that had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on how to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important component of feel is stress, or more especially where pressure points might form while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these stress spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation instead. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft coating of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for all this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I would not say this mattress had especially solid edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers tend to enjoy softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt lots of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I didn’t notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for people who doze primarily on their sides.
Stomach: And lastly, after I rolled onto my stomach, I started to feel a little discomfort as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers tend to prefer firm beds as they help to keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely in their stomachs might want to decide on a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds For Sale
Plan on sharing your bed with a partner? Well then, you’ll want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion transfer, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to another.
Basically, this test will let you know just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s movements in the night.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints related to the material and can be seen in additional all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To illustrate this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the bounce of the latex certainly helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to this sort of cushiony pressure relief you may get at the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is how bouncy it’s , which might be an attractive feature for those looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is fantastic at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a huge selling point is the organic construction. From the organic wool in the cover to the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is totally green.
As we discussed above, this mattress did not have amazing motion transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the evening.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you are not going to encounter a good deal of shape here, one of the most frequent complaints about latex that might be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Plushbeds For Sale
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover enhances airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ layer of 100% Joma wool underneath the cover that does an excellent job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. All in all, the PlushBeds mattress is a nice latex mattress that provides an quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with great cooling and a rounded hug / body contour.
