DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Sets Full

I am super excited about today’s review since I’ll be taking a look at one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper could benefit from it .
Read on below for my full review of the DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Sets Full

CONSTRUCTION

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.

Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.

Foam Layers:  Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.

These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.

Foundation Layer:  A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole.

FIRMNESS

After having a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nice lift from springs.

At this time I’d like to remember that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion also.

DreamCloud-Firmness-Test

As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the business standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear the this mattress is pretty firm.

I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Sets Full

PRESSURE MAP

Instead of simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy.

Back:  Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed whatsoever. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.

Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.

Stomach:  Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Sets Full

MOTION TRANSFER

If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress into another.

To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

Dreamcloud-Motion-Transfer-test

The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.

When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.

  • 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
  • 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Sets Full

EDGE SUPPORT

If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and wish to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.

I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.

Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.

Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.

A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
