DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Batesville Ms
I’m super excited about the current review since I’ll be taking a look at one of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Batesville Ms
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to stress, so you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid foundation for the whole.
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to remember that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This gives you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the business standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks. However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Batesville Ms
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Batesville Ms
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
Warranty: DreamCloud’s Everlong warranty is a lifetime guarantee.
