DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Texas
I am super excited about the current review since I’ll be having a look at one of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper could benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid foundation for the whole.
After having a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d like to remember that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view also.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear the this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Texas
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Texas
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and wish to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you think about the quantity of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
