DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Tx
I’m super excited about the current review since I’ll be taking a look at one of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .
Read on below for my full review of the DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Tx
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to stress, so that you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of these three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid foundation for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from springs.
At this time I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent the this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it is definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of just describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress whatsoever. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Tx
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to learn what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Lockhart Tx
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
Shipping: Free, comes compressed in a box.
Bonus: One free cleaning with purchase.
