PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress Review Plushbeds Latex Topper
If you’re trying to snag an eco-friendly mattress for your bedroom, you may want to take into account the Botanical Bliss mattress from PlushBeds. Constructed with organic latex, this bed aims to be as great for your sleep hygiene as it is for the environment. Plushbeds Latex Topper
But how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I am here to learn, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to find out its feel, how it sleeps and whether it could be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of this PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is constructed with three 3″ layers of organic Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, each of the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
According to PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for each mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a set of graphics on its site detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Plus, if you are still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an extra Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be looking at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Moderate layer in the center and the Firm segment as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what is going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next few sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This substance is compact and has a fast response to stress , creating a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex does not feature much if any contouring, so you are not likely to feel stuck at the mattress.
Another thing you’re likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those of you who are inclined to sleep hot at night.
As far as the texture in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some first deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered marginally by the Medium latex section as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it’s a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials have been accredited by the International Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds Latex Topper
After taking a look at the construction of this Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in further, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and from the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes will feel firmness otherwise, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We all took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a private firmness score and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be an individual thing, this will hopefully give you a great sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from one outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems like this bed is pretty soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for a few pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Bear in mind that we’re only looking at the mattress in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers can make it either firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to create 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed selection.
If we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a medium transition section and a soft foundation, we’d wind up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions about how to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important component of feel is stress, or more especially where pressure points might form while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these stress spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation instead. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the bed, with the soft coating of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it effortless for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I didn’t feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I would not say this mattress had especially solid edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers tend to like softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt lots of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I did not notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze mostly on their own sides.
Stomach: And lastly, once I rolled onto my stomach, I began to feel a bit of distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds as they help to keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely in their stomachs may want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds Latex Topper
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion move, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from 1 side of the bed to another.
Basically, this test will inform you just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s moves in the night.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each fall is intended to symbolize a different movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints associated with the material and can be seen in other all-latex beds, like the Zenhaven.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To illustrate this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex helps to combat any sort of stuck-in-the-bed atmosphere, the mattress itself features an incredible amount of sinkage.
While not exactly the same as contouring, which refers to the kind of cushiony pressure relief you may get in the shoulders and buttocks from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is the way bouncy it’s , which could be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The all-natural latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a huge selling point is the organic building . From the organic wool in the cover to the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we discussed previously, this mattress didn’t have amazing motion transfer results, meaning you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the evening.
Another factor to bear in mind is that you are not going to experience a lot of contour here, one of the most common complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Plushbeds Latex Topper
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a fantastic mattress overall. With very good comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. A natural cotton cover enhances airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ layer of 100% Joma wool beneath the cover which does a great job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers maintain a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that gives an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with terrific cooling and a round hug / body contour.
