DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Annapolis
I’m super excited about the current review because I’ll be taking a look at a few of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy combines high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper could benefit from it most.

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. When these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole.
After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of this quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d like to remember that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent the this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt encouraged and the very best foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Annapolis
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Mattress Annapolis
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
