PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress Review Plushbeds Negative Complaints Or Reviews
If you’re trying to snag an eco-friendly mattress to your bedroom, you might want to take into account the Botanical Bliss mattress from PlushBeds. Built with organic latex, this mattress aims to be as good for your sleep hygiene as it is for the environment. Plushbeds Negative Complaints Or Reviews
But just how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to find out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of this PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which often has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, each of the three Dunlop segments is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for every mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all of the various ways to orient the latex segments.
Plus, if you are still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss in the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the center and the Firm section as the foundation .
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this plush latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic wool and cotton, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next three sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This substance is compact and has a fast response to pressure, making a bed that is incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you are unlikely to feel stuck at the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those of you who are inclined to sleep hot during the night.
So far as the texture in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the mattress, which is buffered marginally by the Medium latex section as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base under.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials are licensed by the International Organic Latex Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, making sure that the mattress has met some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plushbeds Negative Complaints Or Reviews
After having a look at the building of this Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes are going to feel firmness otherwise, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out just how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying about the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness score and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always going to be an individual thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from one outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing an average rating of 5.4.
When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it seems like this bed is pretty soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for a few pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we are only taking a look at the bed in its”Medium” orientation and that shifting around the layers could make it firmer or softer.
For more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just uses medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
If we swapped across the layers in our bed to have a firm layer up top, a moderate transition section and a soft foundation, we’d wind up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on how to orient the layers on your individual Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of feel is stress, or more especially where pressure points might kind while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these stress spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation instead. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the bed, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for all this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I detected some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had particularly solid edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers tend to like softer mattresses, I was not surprised to find that I felt a lot of great pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the picture above, I did not notice any tension at my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for people who doze mostly on their own sides.
Stomach: And lastly, once I rolled onto my stomach, I began to feel a bit of distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds since they help to keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely in their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plushbeds Negative Complaints Or Reviews
Plan on sharing your bed with a partner? Well then, you’ll want to keep a tight eye trained on its own motion move, or the amount of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to the other.
Basically, this test will let you know just how bothered you’ll be by your bed partner’s movements in the night.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize a different movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most frequent complaints related to the material and can be viewed in additional all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
When purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the bounce of the latex certainly helps to combat any sort of stuck-in-the-bed atmosphere, the mattress itself features an incredible amount of sinkage.
While not exactly the same as contouring, which refers to this kind of cushiony pressure relief you might get at the shoulders and buttocks from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.

Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its greatest pros and cons:
One of my favorite things about this mattress is how bouncy it’s , which might be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a huge selling point is the organic building . From the organic wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we discussed above, this mattress didn’t have amazing motion transfer results, meaning you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another factor to bear in mind is that you are not going to encounter a good deal of shape here, one of the most common complaints about latex that might be a deal breaker for those of you in need of deep pressure relief. Plushbeds Negative Complaints Or Reviews
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a fantastic mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look beyond this 100% latex mattress. A natural cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ coating of 100% Joma wool beneath the cover that does a great job of enhancing breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers maintain a cool body temperature during sleep. All in all, the PlushBeds mattress is a nice latex mattress that gives an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with great cooling and a rounded hug / body contour.
