DreamCloud Mattress Review Dream Cloud Mattress Consumer Reviews

I am super excited about the current review because I’ll be having a look at a few of the newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it most.
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Dream Cloud Mattress Consumer Reviews

CONSTRUCTION

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.

Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.

Foam Layers:  beneath the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck at the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.

Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.

Foundation Layer:  A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid foundation for the entire.

FIRMNESS

After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.

At this point I’d like to remember that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view also. This gives you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.

DreamCloud-Firmness-Test

As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.

I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Dream Cloud Mattress Consumer Reviews

Instead of simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

Back:  Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.

Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks. However, I felt encouraged and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.

Stomach:  Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dream Cloud Mattress Consumer Reviews

THE MATTRESS WITH A 365 NIGHT TRIAL & FOREVER WARRANTY

If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse , you’ll want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.

To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

Dreamcloud-Motion-Transfer-test

The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.

SINKAGE TEST

If purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or laying”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.

  • 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
  • 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a broad assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dream Cloud Mattress Consumer Reviews

EDGE SUPPORT

If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you think about the quantity of edge support it’ll provide.

I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to meet the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.

Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.

Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.

In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
