DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Sears
I’m super excited about the current review since I’ll be having a look at a few of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I have put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper could benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive in these layers to see how well they interact together.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a sound foundation for the entire.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a pleasant lift from springs.
At this time I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. As opposed to giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view as well.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. As you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt encouraged and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Sears
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to learn what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
If purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dreamcloud Mattress Sears
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and wish to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
