But just how well does it live up to this assignment? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to find out its feel, how it sleeps and whether or not it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Read on below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which often has a light and airy texture, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, each of the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for every mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t be able to determine how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections.
Additionally, if you’re still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Moderate layer in the center and the Firm segment as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next few sections are comprised of 100% organic Dunlop Latex.
This substance is compact and has a quick response to pressure, creating a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you are not likely to feel stuck at the mattress.
One more thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those who tend to sleep hot during the night.
As far as the feel in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered slightly by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all of its materials are accredited by the International Organic Latex Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the mattress can also be GREENGUARD Gold Certified, making sure that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Plush Beds Meaning
After taking a look at the construction of this Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was immediately interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in further, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes are going to feel firmness otherwise, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out just how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We all took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness score and then compiled them on the chart below.
While feel is always likely to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it appears as though this bed is really soft.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we are only looking at the mattress in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers can make it firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Moderate provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed selection.
If we swapped across the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a medium transition section and a soft foundation, we’d end up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on how to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of texture is pressure, or more especially where pressure points might kind while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation instead. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft coating of latex foam working to fill in the space in my thoracic region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it effortless for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as though I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had especially good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to like softer mattresses, I wasn’t surprised to discover that I felt lots of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the picture above, I didn’t notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze primarily on their sides.
Stomach: And finally, after I rolled on my stomach, I began to feel a little distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers tend to prefer firm beds since they help to keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Plush Beds Meaning
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its own motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to the other.
Basically, this test will let you know just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s movements in the evening.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
For those people who aren’t fans of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints associated with the substance and can be viewed in other all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
When purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To illustrate this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to this kind of cushiony pressure relief you may get at the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft feel.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is how bouncy it’s , which could be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t overheat at night.
And finally, a big selling point is the organic construction. From the natural wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is totally green.
As we mentioned previously, this mattress didn’t have amazing movement transfer results, meaning you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you’re not going to experience a good deal of shape here, one of the most frequent complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Plush Beds Meaning
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a fantastic mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it’s tough to look beyond this 100% latex mattress. A natural cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there is a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool beneath the cover which does a great job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that gives an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions along with terrific cooling and a round hug / body contour.
