But how well does it live up to this assignment? That’s what I am here to learn, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Continue reading below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which often has a light and airy texture, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, each of the three Dunlop segments is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
In accordance with PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for every mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all of the various ways to orient the latex segments.
Plus, if you’re still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an extra Firm layer of latex to get more support.
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Moderate layer in the center and the Firm segment as the foundation .
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this plush latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.
Cover: Made with organic wool and cotton, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with a few satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next few sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex.
This material is dense and has a quick response to stress , creating a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex does not feature much if any contouring, so you’re unlikely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those of you who tend to sleep hot at night.
As far as the texture in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the mattress, which is buffered marginally by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.
The Botanical Bliss‘ construction is also noteworthy because it’s a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials have been licensed by the International Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Giant Plush Beds
After taking a look at the construction of the Botanical Bliss, let’s chat about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I struck the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, weights and shapes will feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying about the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness score and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always going to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a great sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems like this bed is pretty soft.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for some pretty deep sinkage through the mattress.
Bear in mind that we’re only taking a look at the mattress in its”Moderate” orientation and that changing around the layers can make it firmer or softer.
For more specific, the Botanical Bliss Medium provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and only utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These various sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped across the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a medium transition section and a soft foundation, we’d end up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions on the best way to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of texture is stress, or more especially where pressure points might kind while lying on top of a new bed.
Rather than merely describing where these stress spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation rather. To do this, I placed a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space in my thoracic region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some deep compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had particularly good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers tend to enjoy softer mattresses, I was not surprised to discover that I felt a lot of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I did not notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze mostly on their sides.
Stomach: And finally, after I rolled onto my stomach, I started to feel a bit of discomfort as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds as they help to keep the spine in a pleasant, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Giant Plush Beds
Plan on sharing your bed with a spouse ? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to another.
Essentially, this test will inform you just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s movements in the evening.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize another movement you are likely to encounter in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those people who aren’t fans of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints associated with the material and can be viewed in other all-latex beds, like the Zenhaven.
If purchasing a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To exemplify this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the bounce of the latex helps to combat any sort of stuck-in-the-bed feeling, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to the sort of cushiony pressure relief you may get at the shoulders and hips from a memory foam bed like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft feel.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its greatest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is how bouncy it is, which might be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another major pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The organic latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a big selling point is the organic building . From the natural wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is totally green.
As we mentioned previously, this mattress did not have amazing movement transfer results, meaning you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you are not going to encounter a lot of contour here, among the most frequent complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Giant Plush Beds
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a fantastic mattress overall. With very good comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it’s hard to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover enhances airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there is a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool beneath the cover that does a great job of enhancing breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers keep a cool body temperature during sleep. All in all, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that gives an quality level of support in all sleeping positions along with great cooling and a rounded hug / body shape.
