But how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to find out its feel, the way that it sleeps and whether it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Read on below for my full review of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is constructed with three 3″ layers of organic Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy texture, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
According to PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for every mattress, using a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t be able to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all of the various ways to orient the latex segments.
Plus, if you’re still not happy with the feel, PlushBeds is pleased to throw in an extra Firm layer of latex to get more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss at the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Moderate layer in the center and the Firm segment as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what is going on inside.
Cover: Made with organic wool and cotton, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with some satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the next three sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex.
This material is compact and has a quick response to pressure, making a bed that is incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex does not feature much if any contouring, so you’re not likely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be an excellent option for those who tend to sleep hot during the night.
So far as the texture in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some first deep sinkage to the bed, which is buffered marginally by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base under.
The Botanical Bliss‘ structure is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all its materials have been accredited by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Plus, the bed is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Where Is Plushbeds Located
After taking a look at the construction of the Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was instantly interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I encountered the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since people of different sizes, shapes and weights are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me figure out just how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying about the plush organic mattress, gave it a private firmness rating and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always going to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a good sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were mostly in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing on an average rating of 5.4.
In comparison to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness, it seems as though this bed is really soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for a few pretty deep sinkage through the mattress.
Bear in mind that we’re only looking at the mattress in its”Medium” orientation and that changing around the layers can make it either firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Medium provides a firmness range from 5-7 using soft, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and just utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These different sections can be moved around to create 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a moderate transition segment and a soft foundation, we’d wind up with a bed which had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions about the best way to orient the layers on your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of feel is stress, or more specifically where pressure points might form while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Instead of merely describing where these stress spots might crop up, I thought I’d give you a visual representation rather. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the effects on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it easy for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I detected some profound compression through the top layers.
While I didn’t feel as though I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had especially good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to like softer mattresses, I was not surprised to discover that I felt lots of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the picture above, I didn’t notice any strain in my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze mostly on their own sides.
Stomach: And finally, once I rolled onto my stomach, I began to feel a bit of distress as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers tend to prefer firm beds as they help keep the spine in a nice, even line, so those who sleep solely on their stomachs might want to decide on a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Where Is Plushbeds Located
Plan on sharing your bed with a partner? Well then, you will want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion transfer, or the quantity of disturbance likely to be felt from one side of the bed to another.
Basically, this test will inform you just how bothered you will be by your bed partner’s moves in the evening.
To illustrate this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to symbolize another movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to complete on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most common complaints related to the substance and can be viewed in other all-latex beds, like the Zenhaven.
When buying a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”to” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To illustrate this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 pound medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex certainly helps to combat any sort of stuck-in-the-bed atmosphere, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not the same as contouring, which refers to the kind of cushiony pressure relief you may get in the shoulders and hips from a memory foam mattress like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft texture.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS BEST FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its greatest pros and cons:
One of my favorite things about this mattress is the way bouncy it’s , which might be an attractive feature for those of you looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The all-natural latex is excellent at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And finally, a big selling point is the organic building . From the organic wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is wholly green.
As we mentioned previously, this mattress didn’t have amazing movement transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the night.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you are not going to experience a good deal of shape here, among the most common complaints about latex that could be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Where Is Plushbeds Located
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is hard to look beyond this 100% latex mattress. A natural cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there’s a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool underneath the cover that does a great job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers maintain a cool body temperature during sleep. Overall, the PlushBeds mattress is a nice latex mattress that provides an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions along with terrific cooling and a rounded hug / body shape.
