But just how well does it live up to this assignment? That’s what I’m here to learn, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, how it sleeps and whether or not it may be the mattress of your dreams.
Read on below for my full review of this PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress.
The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3″ layers of natural Dunlop Latex.
Unlike Talalay Latex, which frequently has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure.
Here, all the three Dunlop segments is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best matches the sleeper.
According to PlushBeds, there are a total of six distinct firmnesses for each mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes.
Worried you won’t have the ability to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its site detailing all of the various ways to orient the latex segments.
Plus, if you are still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.
For the purpose of my review, I will be taking a look at the Botanical Bliss in the”Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the center and the Firm section as the base.
But enough talk! Let’s dive into this lavish latex mattress and see what is going on inside.
Cover: made out of organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with some satisfying comfort.
Latex Layers: As I mentioned up top, the following few sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex.
This substance is compact and has a quick response to pressure, creating a bed that is incredibly bouncy. In comparison to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you’re not likely to feel stuck in the mattress.
Another thing you’re most likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those who tend to sleep hot during the night.
As far as the feel in this particular configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered marginally by the Medium latex segment as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base under.
The Botanical Bliss‘ structure is also noteworthy because it is a 100% certified organic mattress, which means all of its materials have been accredited by the Global Organic Latex Standard and the International Organic Textile Standard.
Additionally, the bed can also be GREENGUARD Gold Certified, ensuring that the mattress has fulfilled some of the world’s most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air. Dog Plush Beds
After taking a look at the construction of the Botanical Bliss, let us talk about the firmness and texture.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and discovered that I was immediately interacting with the soft wool cover.
Pressing in farther, I encountered the buoyant lift of the latex layers, which propelled me up and out of the structure.
Since folks of different sizes, shapes and weights are going to feel firmness differently, I decided to bring in three other testers to help me determine how firm the Botanical Bliss is.
We each took a turn lying on the plush organic mattress, gave it a personal firmness rating and then compiled them on the graph below.
While feel is always likely to be a single thing, this will hopefully give you a great sense of the firmness range you can expect from this bed.
Aside from 1 outlier, we were largely in agreement about the firmness of the Botanical Bliss, landing an average rating of 5.4.
When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems as though this bed is pretty soft.
I personally gave the mattress a 5. While the bounce of the latex is very likely to keep you positioned on top of the bed, the material is surprisingly gentle, allowing for a few pretty deep sinkage throughout the mattress.
Keep in mind that we are only taking a look at the mattress in its”Medium” orientation and that shifting around the layers can make it firmer or softer.
To get more specific, the Botanical Bliss Medium provides a firmness range from 5-7 using gentle, medium and firm layers of latex.
The Botanical Bliss Firm runs from 7-9 and only utilizes medium, firm and extra firm latex. These various sections can be moved around to make 6 unique configurations, representing a subtle gradient within the prescribed range.
So if we swapped around the layers in our bed to have a firm coating up top, a moderate transition segment and a soft foundation, we’d wind up with a bed that had a firmness of about 7.
As I mentioned up top, instructions about the best way best to orient the layers in your respective Botanical Bliss are available on the brand’s website.
Another important part of feel is pressure, or more specifically where pressure points might kind while lying on top of a brand new bed.
Instead of merely describing where these tension spots might crop up, I thought I’d provide you a visual representation rather. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach.
You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back: Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the bed, with the soft layer of latex foam working to fill in the space at my lumbar region.
Even for this sinkage, the responsiveness of the latex made it effortless for me to roll around and change positions.
Edge Support: Scooting as close to the side as I could, I noticed some profound compression through the top layers.
While I did not feel as if I’d roll out of bed, I wouldn’t say this mattress had particularly good edge support.
Side: Since side sleepers have a tendency to like softer mattresses, I was not surprised to discover that I felt lots of fantastic pressure relief in this position.
As you can see in the graphic above, I didn’t notice any tension at my shoulders or hips, typical problem areas for those who doze mostly on their sides.
Stomach: And finally, once I rolled on my stomach, I began to feel a little discomfort as the soft nature of the bed caused my hips to sink out of alignment with my shoulders.
Stomach sleepers have a tendency to prefer firm beds as they help keep the spine in a nice, even line, so those who sleep solely in their stomachs might want to opt for a firmer configuration of the Botanical Bliss. Dog Plush Beds
Plan on sharing your bed with a partner? Well then, you’ll want to keep a tight eye trained on its motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance likely to be felt from 1 side of the bed to the other.
Essentially, this test will let you know just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s movements in the evening.
To exemplify this, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is meant to symbolize another movement you are likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
For those who aren’t lovers of latex, this interfering bounce is one of the most frequent complaints associated with the substance and can be seen in other all-latex beds, such as the Zenhaven.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying”on top” of it.
To illustrate this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
6 lb medicine ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
10 pound steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 6.5 inches of sinkage.
These results are really interesting because while the rebound of the latex certainly helps to combat any type of stuck-in-the-bed atmosphere, the mattress itself features an extraordinary amount of sinkage.
While not exactly the same as contouring, which refers to the sort of cushiony pressure relief you may get at the shoulders and hips from a memory foam bed like the Tempurpedic, the sinkage nonetheless contributes to the Botanical Bliss’ overall soft feel.
Sleep Trial: 100 days.
Warranty: 25 years.

IS THE PLUSH BEDS MATTRESS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Now that we have taken a closer look at the Botanical Bliss mattress, I want to highlight some of its biggest pros and cons:
One of my favourite things about this mattress is the way bouncy it is, which might be an attractive feature for those looking for buoyant support.
Another significant pro is that the Botanical Bliss sleeps cool. The all-natural latex is fantastic at temperature regulation, ensuring that you won’t snore at night.
And lastly, a big selling point is the organic construction. From the natural wool in the cover into the Dunlop Latex layers, this bad boy is totally green.
As we mentioned previously, this mattress did not have amazing motion transfer results, which means that you’re likely to be disturbed by movements in the evening.
Another factor to keep in mind is that you are not going to experience a good deal of shape here, one of the most frequent complaints about latex that might be a deal breaker for those of you needing deep pressure relief. Dog Plush Beds
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress is a good mattress overall. With very superior comfort, support, bounce, and cooling, it is tough to look past this 100% latex mattress. An organic cotton cover improves airflow and rounds out a healthy outer covering. Additionally, there is a 1″ layer of 100 percent Joma wool beneath the cover which does a great job of improving breathablity of the mattress as well as absorbing moisture. This helps sleepers maintain a cool body temperature during sleep. All in all, the PlushBeds mattress is a wonderful latex mattress that gives an high quality level of support in all sleeping positions together with great cooling and a round hug / body contour.
