DreamCloud Mattress Review Dream Cloud Mattress Coupons
I am super excited about the current review since I’ll be taking a look at a few of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as lavish as it is supportive.
To determine how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it .
Read on below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress. Dream Cloud Mattress Coupons
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different substances at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to stress, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the most important function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire.
After taking a look at the building of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from springs.
At this point I’d like to remember that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness otherwise. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Instead of just describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy.
Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress whatsoever. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these places with relative ease. Dream Cloud Mattress Coupons
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great alternative for couples.
When buying a new bed, most individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dream Cloud Mattress Coupons
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and wish to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial that you think about the quantity of edge support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to meet the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too spectacular.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
