DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Prices Queen
I’m super excited about the current review because I’ll be having a look at one of the latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress. This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper would benefit from it .

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: beneath the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils: The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the construction. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a sound foundation for the entire.
After taking a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this time I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view as well. This gives you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the remaining testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking out of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel as if you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy.
Back: Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks. However, I still felt encouraged and the very best foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these places with relative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Prices Queen
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse , you will want to learn what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to another.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”to” the mattress or placing”on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
- 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a broad range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular. Dreamcloud Mattress Prices Queen
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the quantity of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle . Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam border support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
